Rockin Reviews Cherish Shawn Bailey
Good mornin’, Welcome to another edition of Rockin’ Reviews. This week’s book is Cherish by Shawn Bailey which I was pretty excited about when I picked it up. I mean, look at the cover? Musician and another hot man in the background? I just knew I was in for a treat.
Now, let me preface this by saying I didn’t hate the book but wow, were there things lacking from in it that left me feeling empty. I mean, the plot is solid. Who doesn’t want to read about two male celebs from different worlds who struggle to keep their lives private, let alone their sexuality but there were things unbelievable. One of them is a virgin at 22? Ummm…
Not saying it couldn’t happen but quite far fetched. That’s the smallest problem I had with it. The dialogue is skewed in a lot of spots, some scenes are rushed including the romantic scenes which bothered me. It seemed like Shawn didn’t want to delve too far into their romance.
I do like the tension in the story which is great but there were times throughout where I felt Shawn could’ve dug deeper. And I have to say, the writing was a distraction. It really could’ve used better editing. I mean, I’m not usually one to pick on the way a book is written but this one needed 2 good betas and a solid editor. I know a really good one who helps Shar. The book is solid and the editing brought it down a notch.
Despite this, I liked the book but I’ll warn you. Try to like the story as it is. It’s a good one but if easily distracted by subpar editing, you might want to give it a pass. Extra points for the awesome cover!

Blurb from Goodreads: The last thing pop star Trinity Warren expected to find sprawled in the middle of a dark highway was an injured motorcyclist who had dangerously into the path of a moving limousine. Trinity also never expected his body to react or his heart to race when the young man momentarily regained consciousness and stared up with beautiful dove gray eyes.
As Brennan Demarcus lay on the ground preparing to die a beautiful blond-haired angel appeared and looked down on him with concerned ice blue eyes. His body shuttered involuntarily as he closed his eyes. The last thing he remembered thinking was that maybe dying wouldn’t be so bad as long as he could fly around the heavens with someone as lovely as the angel that had appeared to take him to meet his maker.
